In the world of make-up, the true test of your skills is liquid eyeliner. Tackle this tricky product with the right application tool and, of course, practice. If you're ready for the challenge, a single stroke across the lids is enough to take you from wallflower to diva in the blink of an eye. Quite literally.

Step 1: Start with the cleanest possible lid. Use a primer to absorb all oils and even out skin tone.

Step 2: Lift your lid for a smooth, taut surface. If you're a beginner, start with short, controlled strokes right above the lashline at the inner corner of your eye. Instead of the floppy applicator brush, use your own slanted, stiff-bristled brush. Once you get to the outer corner, push the colour out, ticking it up to create the cat eye.
