Make up how to needed!

I don't know what the episode was called, but on the latest episode of The Hills, there was a scene where Kristin went to dinner with Brody, and her eye makeup was to DIE for. If someone wants to post a how-to on it, that would be great. Or if someone just has some input on how they think it was done, great! I am always looking for ways to liven up my mainstay daily makeup of black eyeliner, shimmer and mascara!

How to get Perfectly Winged eyeliner!

So one of my TS friends complained about how hard it is to get the Amy Winehouse winged liner to look symmetrical: “and used some black gel eyeliner to get the amy winehouse batwings, but bit less dramatic...ahhh im so proud (first time, my wings are symetrical), usually all hell breaks loose wen i do batwings cuz one wud longer..the other shorter...then one would be stumpy..the other nosediving too lowwww,,lol”.

Here's a tip to get the winged eyeliner perfectly symmetrical: Put a piece of tape diagonally on your eye so you have like a boundary.

Line your eyes and draw the winged part along the tape. Some the the eyeliner will get on the tape, so that just saved you from messing up, b/c without the tape the excess liner would be on your skin.

So when you pull off the tape you have a straight edge. Its sorta like using painters tape on the walls of a room to make stripes.

So the pictures are like super ghetto, but I hope you get my point about the tape. I hope that helps. I will post actual pictures of how I do the method, but today is a no make up day for me!

I used UDPP, Urban decay Deluxe Shadow Box... Colors from Inner eye to outer Graffiti, Peace, Fishnet, Ransom. Then added my random purple colors on to blend Fishnet and Randsom. Honey was applied up to brow bone. The shirt with that mask and crazy floral and Asian letters in the background was my inspiration for the colors. Shirt from DOTs clothing, my summer job.

Makeup That Matches You

Before you put any makeup on your face, you need to figure out which shades will work best with your hair and face. Most of the time you can wear some version of the look you love as long as the shade works with your hair color and skin tone.

FAIR SKIN AND LIGHT HAIR

Cheeks: Choose brush colors that mirror your natural blush. Pale peaches and pinks flatter your skin tone beautifully. Apricots and mauves are slightly more intense colors and therefore a bit more dramatic, so they're perfect for dressy evenings.

Eyes: Fair complexion can wear basically any color eye shadow, as long as it's on the lighter end of the spectrum. Deck your lids with anything from pale green, powder blue, or light beige to lavender or pale pink. Keep eyeliner pale too, by simple using eyeshadow as liner along the top and bottom lash lines with a thin brush, then blur the line with your finger. Substitute black mascara for brown, which will look softer against your skin.

Lips: Make your lips stand out with beautiful color. Almost anything pastel goes. Try pinks, peaches, lavenders, and soft neutrals. All these colors are great choices to wear in the daytime. Bold reds and burgundies are fun to wear at night.

FAIR SKIN AND MEDIUM OR DARK HAIR

Cheeks: Add a natural-looking flush toy our cheeks with medium peach, pink, and mauve shades. Another option: if you are in the mood to create a sun-kissed glow, go for a shimmery pale golden bronze blush.

Eyes: Play up your medium or dark tresses with color that's not too light and not too dark, but in between. Try medium plum, purple, lavender, green, or blue eye shadows. If you want to line your eyes, use the same color shadow that you applied to your lids; an eyeliner in the same hue will also work. Use black mascara to coat upper and lower lashes.

Lips: Shade your lips with colors that fall between light and dark, just like the eye makeup, to complement both your pale skin and dark hair. Try reds, medium dark pinks, berries, deep corals, or pinkish browns.

OLIVE SKIN AND MEDIUM OR DARK HAIR

Cheeks: Go for fun, bright colors, which stand out more against your olive complexion, like plums, red-browns, and roses. Bronzes with a bit of shimmer also look pretty, since they make you look as if you have a golden tan.

Eyes: When it comes to shadows, you've got many options. For a subtle sunny look, browns a bit darker than your own skin and glimmery golds look great. Try greens, aquas, purples, or blues. To really make your eyes stand out, highlight your brow bone with shimmery off-white shadow. Your eyeliner should be charcoal, black, or navy; go for jet-black mascara.

Lips: Make your lips stand out against your olive skin with red shades, like brick and wine, or more natural hues, like yummy caramels and chocolate browns.

MEDIUM GOLDEN SKIN AND DARK OR MEDIUM HAIR

Cheeks: Pink, wine, and plum are your best shades to use to create a pretty flush.

Eyes: Use pale gray, slate blue, purple, or pink eye shadow on your eyelids- these colors will stand out against your skin tone and brighten up your eye area. If you want to accent the crease, use a shadow one shade darker than the eye shadow that is on your eyelids. Highlight the brow bone with an off-white shadow. The prettiest eyeliner look for you is black or gray, since it will make the whites of your eyes look even whiter. Top off your lashes with black mascara.

Lips: Pink is always pretty and the most natural-looking choice for golden skin, since that's the natural color of your lips. When you apply a pink shade, you're really just enhancing what is already there, plus it stands out beautifully against your skin tone. Other colors that will look pretty with your complexion are plums, reds, and mauves.

LIGHT BROWN SKIN AND DARK, MEDIUM, OR LIGHT HAIR

Cheeks: Orangey peach colors will work really well with your skin. Or, fake a golden tan with bronze and gold blushes.

Eyes: Define your eyes in a way that looks very natural with a brown eye shadow that's infused with shimmer. Or have a little more fun with color by decking lids with vibrant, sheer shades that look pretty against your light brown skin; try shimmery greens, blues, or purples. To emphasize your brow bone, highlight it with a light brown shimmery shadow that's a few shades lighter than your natural skin tone. Brush your upper and lower lash with black mascara.

Lips: Add shine to your lips with glosses in natural earth tones packed with gold flecks, like browns, caramels, brick reds, and corals. They will look pretty against your light brown skin.

DARK SKIN AND DARK HAIR

Cheeks: For a blush to stand out and create a pretty flush against your deep skin tone, try deep reddish shades, like rose, brick red, rust, and burgundy. Deep mauves will make your face look fresh and are a great option for daytime looks.

Eyes: To make your eyes look bright, choose an eye shadow that's one shade lighter than your skin tone and is packed with gold or silver shiny specs. Then use an even lighter shade of eye shadow to highlight your brow bone. For a more colorful look, coat your eyelids in deep purple or burgundy. Line upper and lower lash lines with dark colors like gray, brown, black, or dark purple that will stand out against your skin and make your eye shape look more defined. Deck lashes in black mascara.

Lips: Dark, juicy colors such as deep plums, reds, rich wines, and berries make your pout stand out beautifully against your darker complexion. Bright colors like red, orange, and fuchsia will look pretty for a night out.

Hot lip tips

 1. Achieve that perfect lip line–After applying your lipstick, put a bit of foundation on a concealer brush and follow around your lip line, erasing any smudges. Voila: a perfect pout.
2. When to use lip stains–Only use lip stains when your lips are perfectly smooth and you don't have lines around the mouth. To get smooth lips, buff lips with a toothbrush dipped in a little water and sugar. Never rub too hard and always follow with a light balm before the stain.
3. Gloss without the goop–Apply a great lipstick and then dab a bit of gloss only on the inside of the fleshy part of the lower lip. All the shine, none of the mess.
4. For high drama–After applying lipstick or gloss, put a touch of white sheer shimmer powder on the dip of the upper lip and right below the lower lip. Great for evening looks.
5. Wearing red–To get that perfect red lip, lightly apply a pale flesh colored lip liner. Then rub a red lip stain on the lips. Follow with a moisturizing red lipstick. Dry formulas look cakey; super glossy ones slip right off. Avoid red lip-gloss as it gets messy fast.
6. Small lips–Avoid wearing dark colors; they make lips look smaller. Do not draw on a big lip with lip liner. Instead choose light or bright shades of lipstick or gloss with shimmer that catches the light for a magnifying effect.
7. Big lips–Stay away from glossing the whole lip. Apply a little in the center on top and bottom, and then blend with your fingertip across the lips for shine that doesn’t overpower your face.
8. Whiter teeth–Brush teeth with a little baking soda. Then choose lip colors in cool tones for an icy-white smile.
9. Liner disasters–Never choose a lip liner darker than your lipstick. If you like to use liner on the whole lip, use a balm first to avoid chunky, uneven, dry color.
10. Bleeding lipstick–Line the lips with a pale flesh colored lip liner then fill with a moisture-rich lipstick with staying power. Avoid glosses as they tend to run.

Prom Makeup - Top 5 Beauty Tips for Prom

No-Fail Prom Makeup Tips to Look Gorgeous on Your Big Night

The weeks before prom can be crazy. There's nothing better than planning your dress, shoes, prom makeup and hair. To make things easier, we've compiled the five prom makeup musts for this year's event. If you live by these prom makeup tips, we guarantee you won't look weird, boring or too much like your regular, everyday self for this year's prom. Have fun!

Prom Makeup Tip #1: Pick your eyes OR your mouth
The biggest mistake people make when putting on makeup is that they highlight both the eye and the mouth. You need to pick one or the other and downplay what you rejected.

How to pick? Simple. What do people compliment you on? Do you have Angelina Jolie's lips or Kate Bosworth's eyes? If you choose to focus on your lips, you'll want to go bright.
Red is hot for prom, as are dark pinks. Just stay away from brown (leave it for your grandmother) and make sure you keep your eye makeup soft and simple.

For the right way to wear red lipstick check out this article . If you want to play up your eyes, go all out with liner, shadow, mascara and even false eyelashes (the ones that AREN'T obnoxious and outlandish). Just make sure you stick with light lips capped with a light gloss.

Smokey eyes are a great look for prom. Here are step-by-step instructions .
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 5 minutes
Here's How:

 1. Prep the lid. The key to keeping eyeshadow from melting into your eyelid crease as the day goes on is to kept eyelids oil-free. To do this start with an eyeshadow base (also called "primer"). I prefer to dab at bit of MAC's 'paint' on lids before shadow application. Or try Fresh Freshface Perfecting Eye Primer.

 2. Apply eyeliner. If you're going for a typical black, brown or gray smoky eye, apply liner in one of those colors above the upper lash line, drawing line thicker in the middle of eye. If your opting for a jewel-toned eye (violet makes a gorgeous smoky eye), line eyes with a purple, blue or deep green liner.

 3. Blend in color on bottom lashes For color on the bottom (a key smoky eye look) you'll want a lighter eyeliner. The key is to "smudge it." You can also apply a bit of shadow to get full smudge effect.

 4. Apply light base color Again, the key to a smoky eye is pairing a lighter base with the darker hue. I prefer a nice cream shade for my base. Sweep a light, shimmery shadow over the lids to your browbone. I love Stila's whipped eye shadows $20. The moist "mousse" consistency seems to stay on forever. My favorite colors are taupe and pearl.
5 Blend in darker color, but keep dark color below the crease. Now that you have the base and eyeliner on, it's time to get the smoky effect. You need a darker eyeshadow shade. Using an eyeshadow brush blend in color starting at your lash line, blending up. Make sure to blend color into the lash line so the eye liner disappears. Stop deep color at crease.

6 Doublecheck your work Make sure eyes match and blend color with a Q-tip if need be.

7 Finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. Tried and true mascaras (featured in "Elle" magazine's March 2006 issue) include DiorShow Mascara & L'Oreal Paris Volume Shocking Mascara. Elle's writer says they are the best volumizers she's tried.

Tips:

 1. Remember to keep lips nude. When applying strong makeup (like smoky eyes or red lips) put the focus on either eyes or lips, never both. (Think Angelina Jolie: She either plays up her huge eyes or her huge lips, never both. If she did, she'd look like a clown).
2. For a bit of fun, try a blue or purple mascara. It will make blue eyes "pop."
3. Liner doesn't have to come in pencil form. Makeup experts know eyeshadows make some of the best eyeliners. To do this take an eyeliner brush (available at Sephora, MAC or any dept store), wet it, then dab wet brush into the dark shadow. This allows for a deep, precise line. You can also use the dark shadows without wetting brush first. Either way, eyeliner is necessary for smoky eye.
4. This season go jewel-toned (blue is great for you blue-eyed girls) and keep your eyes smoky but stay away from dark browns and black. Instead, go for a deep purple, a gold-brown or any of the many vibrant colors in this year.

Prom Makeup Tip #2: Perfect your skin tone.
Perfecting your skin tone can be more important than eye makeup. But the secret is to make it look like you're wearing hardly any makeup. In this article, we show you how to achieve a flawless face.

While we're firm believers that few women under age 25 need foundation, if you have acne or an uneven skin tone, you'll want to cover it up with concealer and foundation.

To avoid the pancake batter look, only apply foundation on the areas of skin that are discolored or have blemishes (usually the forehead, cheeks and chin). Make sure to choose a foundation that perfectly matches your skin and blend in well along the jawline.

Unsure how to pick the right foundation? Skip the drugstore and head instead to a department store or Sephora, where you can try before you buy.

Prom Makeup Tip #3: If in doubt, mimic a celebrity
A good trick for those of us overwhelmed with hair and makeup choices is to mimic a celebrity look. Whomever you're into, whether it be Mischa Barton (pictured right), Carrie Underwood, Kristin Callaveri or Ashlee Simpson, you can adapt their look for your prom.

Chances are a professional makeup artist did the celebrity's makeup. If you're having your makeup done at a department store counter before prom, you can bring along the picture for your makeup artist to perfect.

It can also be easy to do it yourself since many magazines name the products used on the celebrity. This way you can apply the exact makeup the celeb used. Here are some of our favorite looks:

1. Penelope Cruz's smokey eyes). Remember to keep your cheek color natural and use a very light lipstick. See directions for how to get a smokey eye above.

2. Sienna Miller's sweet and sexy look). Keep cheeks dewy with a pink blush and plump up lips with a colored gloss.

3. Red lipstick is a great look, just make sure to pick the perfect shade and go light on your eyes, otherwise you'll risk looking like a Cameron Diaz 'don't').

4. Dark-rimmed eyes, like Katherine Heigl's, are gorgeous. Again, a light gloss on the lips will do you.

Tear out a picture of your favorite celebrity and practice the look before the big night. Once you're at prom, no one but you has to know you're the OTHER Mary-Kate Olsen.

Prom Makeup Tip #4: Three things to remember when taking pictures
You'll have those prom pictures for years, so don't forget these three things:

1. Apply liner and lipstick WITH A MIRROR before you pose.

2. Powder your oily areas (forehead, chin and nose) immediately before the picture. Or better yet, keep blotting papers in your purse.

3. Find out how to stand so you look ten pounds thinner.

Prom Makeup Tip #5: What to bring in your purse
Every purse needs blotting papers (better than applying powder all night, which can leave you looking like a mime), lipstick or gloss, powder (just in case), breath mints and a small bottle of hairspray.

One last thing: Remember, a happy, fun attitude is your biggest beauty weapon. Who doesn't look beautiful when they're happy and smiling?

Find out which celebrity's make-up style is like yours! Answer the questions and view your results by adding up the total at the end.

b) Dinner for two

Add Up Your Scores:

1) a=3 b=2 c=1

2) a=2 b=1 c=3

3) a=3 b=1 c=2

4) a=1 b=3 c=2

5) a=2 b=3 c=1

6) a=3 b=1 c=2

7) a=1 b=2 c=3

8. a=3 b=2 c=1

9) a=3 b=1 c=2

10) a=1 b=2 c=3

If your score was 10-16

Your makeup muse is: Kate Hudson
Your makeup motto is: keeping it simple

Why it's great: You have a cool attitude when it comes to makeup. You've mastered the basics- how to cover a zit, put on blush, and what lip color works on you. You like your face to be natural looking and are a fan of multitasking products like makeup for eyes, cheeks, and lips because they make your life easier. Experiment with new colors and try out some new looks.

Product to try: Add some sparkle to your every day look by blending a dot of a sheer shimmer cream along the top of your cheek bones. Also, put a dot of the same shimmer cream (multi-task) in the middle of your bottom lip and then blend with the clear gloss for a pretty pout.

If you scored 17-24

Your makeup muse is: Kate Bosworth
Your makeup motto is: Perfectly Pretty

Why it's great: you have no problem subtly updating your look every now and then, but your prefer classic looks: black or brown eyeliner, pink or peach blush, and natural-looking lip gloss. The trick is to make minor, yet visible, changes. Instead of buying red lipstick that all the stars are wearing, try a sheerer version. Or go for a fun nail polish. Toe nails can handle any color from red to deep purple. Use eyeshadow as eyeliner for a smokier look by using a wet cotton swab instead of the regular applicator.

Product to try: A shimmery body lotion. Smooth cream onto top of shoulders, neck bone, and kneecaps for a princess like glimmer.

If you scored 25-30

Your makeup muse is: Jennifer Lopez
Your makeup motto is: Glam Slam

Why it's great: You're fearless when it comes to your looks- you like to try everything; whether it's smoky eyes or red lips. when you walk into a room, everyone turns to see what head-turning look you've come up with today, and looks to you for inspiration. Just remember: If you wear a lot of makeup, you need to take good care of your skin and make sure you wash your face twice a day with a good cleanser. Great makeup always starts with good skin.

Product to try: Lighten your look and even out your skin tone by trying a tinted moisturizer- look for the one that also contains SPF to protect your skin from sun damage.

Comment with your results!
